1. Emma Watson appointed as UN Good Will Ambassador.
 
    British actress Emma Watson appointed as Un Good Will Ambassador for empowerment of Young women and will work for advocating UN Women's campaign.
This is the first appointment under Phumzle Mlambo Ngucka, the under secretary general and Executive Director of UN Women.

2. F- Cube technology Launched.

  F Cube technology to promote football at ground level was launched in association with Sports Authority of India(SAI) and thefootballlink.F Cube is an interactive software that has various entertaining and educational games and can create standardized tests.

3.FIFA suspended Nigeria from International Competitions.

Union Budget 2014-15 Highlights

Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley presented the annual Budget 2014-15 in Parliament on 10th July.

1. Fiscal deficit target retained at 4.1 pc of GDP for current fiscal.

2. Aims to achieve 7-8 pc growth rate in next 3 to 4 years.

3.FDI in defense raised to 49pc from 26pc.

4.Exemption limit of income tax set to 2.5 lakh from 2 lakh earlier.(limit for senior citizen will be now 3 lakh)

5.Annual PPF limit raised to 1.5 lakh from 1 lakh.

6.3600 cr for rural drinking water project.

7.500 crore for setting up 5 more IIM and IITs.

8.Rupees 50,548 crore for scheduled caste development.

9. Rupees 200 cr for Statue of Unity ,the dream project of PM Narendra Modi.

10. Rupees 2.29 lakh crore for defense ministry, marking an increase of around 12.5 pc.

11. Beti Bachao Beti Padao yojana to create awareness on Women's issues, rupees 100 cr allotted for the same.

12. Rupees 2037 cr for Ganga conservation mission 'Namami Ganga'.

1. Union Rail budget 2014-15 presented.

     Railway minister DV Sadananda Gowda presented the union railway budget for the year 2014-15 on Tuesday.He highlighted the implementation of PPP models in projects and operation of this mammoth public sector enterprise throughout the budget speech.

Highlights of the budget.

   a. FOB, escalators, toilets on all stations
   b. Food court at major stations
   c. Separate house keeping wing at major stations
   d.17000 RPF personnel and 4000 women personnel for ensuring         safety of passengers.
   e. Setting up Railway university for technical and non-technical      studies.
   f.Ultrasonic broken rail detection system for identifying cracks in tracks.
   g. Bullet train service between Ahmadabad and Mumbai

   h. Special milk tanker for transport of milk.
   i.Office on Wheels,internet and workstations in selected stations.
   j.5 Jansadharan, 5 Premium, 6 AC, 27 Express, 8 Passenger trains are newly allotted.

2. Champions Tennis League launched.

   Veteran Tennis player Vijay Amritraj announced the launch of Champions Tennis League(CTL) . The league will have teams from six major cities playing thirteen matches each.The matches will be conducted over a 10 day period from November 17 to 26.

3. Supreme Court appointed three new Judges.

   Supreme court appointed Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and Justice Rohington F Nariman as Supreme court Judges.
Justice Mishra and Justice Goel were the Chief Justice of Calcutta and Orissa  High courts respectively. Rohington F Nariman was a senior advocate of Supreme Court.

1. Union Govt issued 4 new vaccines as apart of UIP.

    Government of India introduced four new vaccines as a part of Universal immunization program .Vaccines for  rota virus ,rubella, polio,vaccine against Japanese encephalitis will be now available at free of cost from government hospitals.The last one will be available only in 179 districts of 9 states which are endemic to the disease.

2. President joined twitter.

   President of India Shri. Pranab Kumar Mukherjee joined twitter with his official twitter account @RashtrapatiBhvn. The account is run and managed by the President's secretariat,the tweets from the president are all signed.
People can follow the account for updates and news from Rashtrapathi Bhavan.

3.RBI restored limit of Overseas direct investment taken under automatic route.

    RBI restored limit of ODI by an Indian company ,under automatic routes of Foreign exchange management act.With this decision an Indian company can undertake financial commitment/investment upto 400 pc net worth in all its joint ventures or wholly owned subsidiaries.

4. Satya Nadella among 4  Indian-American felicitated on US.

    Satya Nadella and three other Indians were honored in US on it's Independence Day for their contributions to US in the great migrants tribute in New York.

5.NABARD and SFAC ink deal to promote small Farmers.

    NABARD , and Small Farmers Agri Business Corporation have signed a MoU to jointly implement schemes for promotion of farm producer organisation.

6.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurated Uri II hydroelectric project and Udhampur-Katra rail Line in Jammu & Kasmir.


      PM on a short visit to J&K ,inaugurated 240 MW Uri II hydroelectric project on Jhelum river in Uri area close to line of control(LoC) in Baramullah District.The new project will generate 240 MW from its four units of 60 MW each.
In an another event he inaugurated 25 km long Udhampur-Katra line.Train from Katra named 'Shrisakhthi' express will facilitate pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
