Daily Update - 5,6th April.

1.First Phase of Lok Sabha elections will begin on 7th April.

   The first phase of the nine phase lok sabha elections will begin from 7th April,elections will be conducted in five constituencies of Assam and Tripura(west) constituency in Tripura. Final phase will conclude on 12th May and counting of votes is scheduled on May 16.


2. Marie Louis Colerio Preca sworn in as president of Malta .

      Marie Louis Colerio Preca sworn in as president of Malta after Prime minister Joseph Muscat nominated her name and finally got approval from the parliament.



3. SBI opens Twitter Account.

     Country's leading Bank opens their twitter account after showing their presence in social platforms, Facebook and YouTube. People can connect  via  https://twitter.com/TheOfficialSBI. The twitter handle of SBI is 'TheOfficialSBI".Followers will receive round the clock tweets on bank products and services. The new move is expected to attract more tech savvy youngsters.

4.Transfer Ban on Barcelona.

     FIFA imposed transfer ban on Spanish Club FC Barcelona,the ban prohibits Barcelona from buying or selling players for next two transfer windows on June 2014 and January 2015.Ban will last for 1 year.
Apart from this Barcelona and Rael Madrid was imposed a penalty for violation of Article 19 of the FIFA rules regarding protection of minor football players.

5.MS Dhoni won the UK's 2014 Asian Award.

     MS Dhoni won United Kingdom's 2014 Asian Award for outstanding performance in sports,the award was announced at the Grosvenor House hotel in London.


6. Hat-Trick Title For Australian Women.

      Australia completed Hat-trick of ICC Women World T20 title defeating England in the Final Held at Mirpur.
Scores : England 105/8 in 20 overs
              Australia 106/4 in 15.1 overs.

7. Pulitzer prize winning Journalist Shot Dead.

     Anja Niedringhas,the Pulitzer prize winning journalist was shot dead by a policeman in Afghanistan while covering the Presidential election 2014 . She won the Prestigious Pulitzer prize in 2005 for covering the Iraq war.

1.New Banking license for IDFC and Bandhan.

    RBI granted Banking license for infrastructure finance company IDFC and microfinance company Bandhan from the 25 applicants,RBI will consider the application of India post after consulting with Government of India,others are advised to submit afresh application.

2.ISRO launched IRNSS 1B.

    Indian Space Research Organisation,launched the second satellite of India's regional navigation satellite system IRNSS 1B from Satish Dhawan Space center Sriharikota on 4th April.To start functioning the system will require four of seven satellites to be launched.The first of the series was launched on 1st july 2013.
These are the countries with own navigation system.

   1. United States : Global positioning system(GPS)
   2.Russia : Glonass
   3.Europe : Galelio
   4.China : Beidou
   5.Japan : Quasi Zenith Satellite System

3. R Gandhi Promoted as Deputy Governor of RBI

    After KC Chakraborthy quits the post of Deputy Governor,R Gandhi presently the executive Director is promoted as Deputy Governor of the central bank of India.RBI will have 3 Deputy Governor,Urjit Patel,HR Khan and R Gandhi.

4.DOHA Bank will open their Branch in Mumbai.

    Qatar based Doha bank will open their first branch at Nariman point in Mumbai by may 2014.

5.World's most accurate clock launched.

   National Institute of Standards & Technology,under US department of Commerce launched new atomic clock NIST F2 .which is claimed to be the accurate clock of the world.This will neither gain or lose a second for about 300 million years.

6.INSAT 3E decommissioned.

    ISRO decommissioned its communication satellite INSAT 3E after 10.5 years ,it had stopped working in march 2014

1. RBI monetary policy review highlights.

   a. Repo rate unchanged at 8 pc
   b. Cash Reserve Ratio to be unchanged at 4 pc.
   c. No rate hike if inflation continues to trend lower.
   d. Economic growth for 2014-15 expected at 5.5 pc.
   e. CAD expected to come down to 2pc of Gdp in 2014-15
   f. Retail inflation expected to be under 6 pc in 2014.

    Manuel Valls ,51 year socialist leader nominated as the Prime Minister of France.

3. US Ambassador to India Nancy Powell resigns.

4. New CPI as the new measure of inflation : RBI 

     Reserve Bank of India adopted new consumer price index as the measure of inflation.earlier Weightage was given to Wholesale price index than consumer price index.

5. 15000 crore loans for Indian project from Japan.

      Japan announced 1500 crore loan for five Indian projects
     a. New & Renewable energy Project
     b. MSME enterprises energy saving project
     c. Haryana distribution system upgradation project.
    d. Delhi Mass rapid transportation system.

6.World Bank Doubles Lending to  India,China,Brazil,Mexico and Indonesia.

1.18th SAARC summit to be held in Nepal.
    
      Kathmandu,the Capital of Nepal will hold the 18th SAARC(South Asian Assosciation for regional co operation) summit from 14th November,date is subjected to approval from member nations.
SAARC is now having 8 member nations viz India,Maldives,Nepal,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Bhutan,Sri lanka and Afghanisthan.


2. Djokovic beats Rafael Nadal.

     
     Novak Djokovic won the Miami open title defeating top seed Rafael Nadal.


3.World Telecommunication Conference starts in Dubai.

   World Telecommunication conference,organised by International Telecommunication Organisation(ITO) with a theme of Broadband for sustainable development begins in Dubai.Delegates from India led by telecom secretary will be attending the conference.

4. Malaysian Grand Prix For Hamilton.

   Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton of Britain won Malaysian Grand Prix in Se pang, Malaysia by defeating his team mate Nico Roseberg(Mercedes)

  Polling at your finger tips service launched in Shillong,Meghalaya.Under this service voters will recieve details of their polling station,timings and date by sending and SMS to 9856066666.The move by the state election commission hopes to bring more voters to polling station.

6.BHEL to set up 120 MW hydel project in Uttarakhand.

    Bharat heavy electrical limited(BHEL) will set up a  120 MW hydro electric power project in Uttarakhand.They signed a contract of 125 crore with Uttarakhand Jalvidyut Nigam Ltd for their Vyasi Hydro electric project .The contract include design,manufacture,supply,installation and commission of hydro generator sets and associated works.
