1. Google signed deal with Luxotticca Spa for google glass.

      Google Inc partners with Luxotticca Spa the makers of RayBan and Oakley sunglasses for their high-tech wearable computers Google glass.Customers have to apply for the purchase of Google glass at selected locations.

2.Tehseen Akhtar arrested.

      Indian Mujahideen Chief Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police.He was heading IM since the arrest of Co-Founder Yaseen Bhatkal.He suspected to be the brain behind all recent  attacks.

3. Polling Booths at J&K declared as No Smoking zones.

    Jammu and Kashmir became the first state to declare its polling booths as no smoking zones,the polling stations will display a No Smoking Banner in the coming lok sabha polls.Decision was announced by Umang Narula, chief election commissioner of J&K.

4.Arjun Kapoor selected as Ambassador of Earth hour 2014.

    Young Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor named as the ambassador for the Earth hour 2014 ,observed on 29th march 2014.


5.Amitabh Bachan named Global Icon of the year.

    Big B, of Bollywood Amitabh Bachan selected for Global Icon of the year award at the NRI of the year awards in Mumbai.He dedicated the award to all young generation actors in the industry.The award was  presented jointly by ICICI and Times Of India.

Pritzker Architecture prize for Shigeru Ban.
     Japanese Architect Shigeru Ben won the prestigious  Pritzker Architecture prize 2014 for his low cost designs for relief shelters.The international prize  awarded to living Architects carry a cash prize of 100000 dollar ,a citation and bronze medallion.


7.3rd Nuclear security summit 2014 held in 'The Hague'.

    Third nuclear security summit 2014 was held in Hague,Switzerland attended by 58 world leaders reached an agreement to prevent the reach of terrorists out to nuclear materials.NSS Countries also agreed to keep quantities of nuclear materials as low as possible.

1.Govind Misra selected for Saraswathi Samman.

   Renowned Hindi author Govind Misra ,selected for Saraswathi samman 2013 for his book Dhool Paudha Par published in 2008. He is the second Hindi author after Harivansh Rai Bachan to receive this award.Award that was established in 1991 by KK Birla Foundation,carries a cash prize of 10 lakhs and a certificate.


2.529 supporters of Mohd Morsi sentenced to death.

   529 supporters of ousted islamist president Mohd Morsi were sentenced to death by Egyptian court.They were convicted of charges like attacks on people, damaging public property and murdering a police personnel.

3. Veteran Actress Nanda (75) died in Mumbai.

4. AQUATM launched in Mumbai.

    Vandana Foundation,a non profit organisation launched automatic drinking water vending machine AQUATM in Mumbai.Water can be purchase at rs 1,per liter through a prepaid card . The machine has a capacity to deliver 1000 liters per day.

1.RBI orders banks to give copy of credit profile to customers.

    Reserve Bank of India order banks to give free copy of credit information report to it cs customers,this will give awareness about the need to have credit discipline.The suggestion was made by the panel headed by Aditya Puri chairman of HDFC bank.

2.Book on Lal Bahadur Sasthri Released.

   Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama released a book on former PrimeMinister Lal Bahadur Sasthri titled "Lal Bahadur Sasthri : lessons in leadership".This biography on sasthri is a rewind of his life narrated by his son,Anil Sasthri.

3. Jeev Milkha Singh,nominated for asian Tour's player of the decade award.

4. Fourth Hockey India National Championship.

   Men's Title : Air India retained men's title after beating comptroller & Auditor General of India Team for
4-1 in final held at Lucknow .
   Women's Title : Railway Sports promotion board defeated defending champions Haryana,4-0 to clinch Hockey India women's championship in Bhopal.


5.Supreme court Directs Centre to withdraw all orders making Aadhar Mandatory.

    Supreme court of India directs Government of India to withdraw all orders making Aadhar mandatory.It also suggested UIDAI not to share any information regarding the card holder without his/her consent.


6. Ebola virus detected in Guinea.

   Ebola virus which causes hemorrhagic fever is detected in Guinea.80 people were detected and out of this 59 is already dead,raising concerns to the authorities.

7. Stuart Oliver won first ever Indian truck racing Championship.

     Experienced British racer Stuart Oliver won the first ever TATA T1 Prima truck racing Championship on 23rd march 2014.

1.World Water Day Observed.

     World Water Day observed on 22nd march to preserve and control the consumption of water.United Nations conference on Environment and development (UNCED) initiates the observation of this day for promoting sustainable management of water resources.


2. Officers honored with keerthi Chakra.


   Three officers of the Armed forces were honored with the second highest gallantry award.
       1. Wg: Cdr Darryl Castelino : Received award posthumously for his role in operation rahat,where his chopper crashed with 20 members after he saved more than 80 lives.
      2. Maj. Mahesh Kumar :  For his acts in countering insurgency in Jammu & Kashmir.       3. Cdr. Abhilash Tomy : For his completing world voyage on his sail ship non-stop in 151 days.

3. RBI notifies guidelines for early detection and recovery of bad loans.

    RBI notifies NBFCs and other financial institutions to categorize loans into special mention accounts  before a loan turns into NPA
   (A) . SMA 0 :A/C overdue not more than 30 days but facing stress.
   (B) SMA 1:  principal/interest overdue between 31-60 days.
   (c)  SMA 2 : Principal/interest overdue for 61-180 days
However NPA should be held by concerned banks for a period of 12 months before selling it to other financial institution or NBFC.

4. Aamir Khan to become national icon for LS polls.

       Bollywood star Aamir khan agreed election commission to become the national icon for the coming lok sabha polls.He will co-operate with ECs voter awareness initiatives and leads the media campaign.He will join existing icons DR APJ Abdul Kalam,MS Dhoni ,Saina Nehwal ,and Boxer Mary Kom.


5. Government of India divested 9 percent stakes in Axis Bank.  
 
    Government of India divested 9 percent stake which amounts to 5500 crore rupees  in Axis Bank. GoI,earlier had 20.72 percentage stakes through specified undertaking of unit trust of India(SUUTI)
It will remain the largest shareholder with 11.72% followed by LIC.

6. World's largest TV Unveiled.

   Panasonic unveiled world's largest television Big Hoss at Texas motor speed highway ,US.The screen is 218 feet wide and 94.6 feet tall,which makes it taller than a seven storied building and longer than Boeing 767 flight.

1. World Forestry Day Observed.

       World forestry day was observed on 21st march to increase public awareness about values of forests. United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (UNFAO) on 1971 declared 21st march as world forestry day.


2. RBI Deputy governor KC Chakraborthy resigns.

        KC Chakraborthy ,deputy governor of the RBI resigns from office,3 months ahead of completion of his term.He was appointed in 2009 and extended his tenure in 2012,earlier he served as the CMD of Punjab National Bank(PNB)

3. Indian Journalist won Google digital activism Award.

       Indian Journalist Subranshu Choudhary won the digital activism award 2014 for regional news service defeating US whistle blower Edward Snowden.The award was given for his work using mobile phones to bring local news to tribals region in their native language.He is also the founder of CGnet swara that enbles tribals in Chattisgarh to connect to outside world.

4. Chinese insurance firm offered smog insurance.

       State owned insurance company ping An insurance  offere smog insurance for tourists and natives of six highly polluted cities Beijing,Shangai,Guangzhou,Xian,Chengdu and Harbin.Smog insurance will pay compensation for those who are plagued by smog,compensation will be based on air quality index(AQI)

5. RBI issued notice to banks concerning discontinuation of Windows XP.

 

  Reserve Bank of India raised concern over the threat expected to face from discontinuation of windows XP by Microsoft corporation from 8th April,Withdrawal will stop release of updates and patches for the OS, which will make it more vulnerable to virus attacks.In India most of the banking system are running on windows XP.
